Aya Medany OLY elected to ANOCA Athletes Commission

Three-time Olympic pentathlete Aya Medany OLY has been elected to the Athletes' Commission of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

Medany (EGY) already sits on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission having served as Chair of the UIPM Athletes Committee towards the end of her Modern Pentathlon career.

Now a Member of the Egyptian Parliament, Aya Medany OLY was elected to the ANOCA Commission as representative for the 11 Nile Basin countries of Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Egypt and Somalia.

She said: “Thanks for the confidence of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the members of the Players’ Committee in the Egyptian Olympic Committee who stood with me in the elections.”
