Global Laser-Run City Tour 2018: Joy for beginners in Koupela (BUR)
Burkina Faso has joined the Global Laser-Run City Tour circuit with a successful competition held in the city of Koupela on June 30, 2018.
The event took place alongside the 4th edition of the National Laser-Run Championships, with more than 200 people taking part in the mass-participation City Tour and more than 130 vying for national titles.
The City Tour enabled people of all ages to try Laser-Run for the first time, with a number of beginners surprising and delighting themselves with perfect shoots.
Organisers defeated challenging weather conditions to stage the two competitions and spread the Laser-Run gospel to new urban communities from across western Africa.
On the eve of the Global Laser-Run City Tour, June 29, a memorandum of understanding was signed between delegations from Mali, Niger, Togo and Ivory Coast to organise future Laser-Run competitions on a rotational “fraternity” basis.
The UIPM Global Laser-Run City Tour was created in 2017 to deliver an exciting, dynamic and fun competition to participants of all ages and offer them an entry point to UIPM Sports.
The Global LRCT took place in parks, stadiums and iconic urban venues in 60 cities around the world in 2017, with more than 15,000 participants. There are about 100 events scheduled in 2018.
