Progress and planning as AMPC Executive Board meets in Seoul (KOR)

Progress, planning and a fresh look were all on the agenda as the new leadership of the Asian Modern Pentathlon Confederation (AMPC) held its first Executive Board meeting of the year in Seoul (KOR).
The inaugural gathering of officials elected during last year’s AMPC Congress saw AMPC President Hanjoon Lee (Korea), Vice President Valerii Novikov (Kyrgyzstan), Cassandra Choh (Singapore), Secretary General Sangkeong Yeo (Korea), Deputy Secretary General Hanna Ji (Korea), Sports Director Viktor Maltsev (Kyrgyzstan) and Athletes' Representative Ilia Miagkikh (Kyrgyzstan) and Auditor Tomiyasu Ichiro (Japan) meet in the Korean capital in late February.
A confederation which has seen consistent stability and exciting growth across its vast continental expanse, Asia remains an area of key focus and development for UIPM. Fittingly, its leaders spent significant time planning a busy schedule ahead with a number of AMPC competitions in the calendar for 2025 including November’s Asian Championships in Anjo (JPN) and next year’s Asian Games, the 20th edition which will take place in Aichi-Nagoya (JPN).
Other areas of AMPC focus for EB members included continuing investment in the UIPM Coaches Certification Programme and support for supply of Obstacle equipment across its member federations.
Two welcome new changes were also confirmed in Seol (KOR) where AMPC adopted a new logo to symbolize its development into a more innovative confederation. The new logo, which symbolizes a ‘bridge’ connecting two different points, connects all Asian member countries as one, and also harmoniously connects the five events of Modern Pentathlon into one flow including obstacle. The AMPC EB also approved aa new Women’s Commission of five members, led by Vice President Cassandra Cho.
UIPM President Rob Stull OLY sent a video message of congratulations and encouragement to the AMPC EB members and asked them to work together as a united force for Asian Modern Pentathlon.
The first meeting of the year was concluded with a message of encouragement from President Lee. "I ask all members to work together as a united team and support each other for a common goal and to work hard for the development of Asian modern pentathlon,” he said.
