Training Camp and Olympic Hopes tournament for youth pentathletes in Hungary
After another successful World Cup event, the Hungarian Modern Pentathlon Federation is looking to the future.
Large crowds in Kecskemét cheered three Hungarians to podium finishes at World Cup #4, as Zsófia Földházi and Adam Marosi earned silver medals and Bence Demeter claimed bronze.
The country’s strong Modern Pentathlon heritage looks to be in good hands with so many athletes currently competing for prizes at the highest level. So what is Hungary doing to safeguard the future?
In October, the Hungarian Modern Pentathlon Federation will run a training camp for youth pentathletes from all over the world, in advance of the Olympic Hopes tournament.
Olympic Hopes is a multi-sport Youth Games arranged by Hungary since the 1990s in conjunction with Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. This year there will be 42 events across 28 sports, and the Modern Pentathlon takes place in Tata on October 28-30. With invitations welcome from outwith the four organizing nations, the HMPF has also thrown the doors open to International Federations that want to send their best young athletes to take part in the training camp.
It will be a four-discipline exercise, with Fencing based on request. Accommodation is provided in the National Sports Centres.
Invitations to both the training camp and the Olympic Hopes event will be posted on pentathlon.org in due course.
