UIPM Family

One of the great champions of Modern Pentathlon administration, Alexander Peirits, died on March 19, 2025 in his home town of Wiener Neustadt, Austria, sparking fulsome tributes.

As President of the Austrian Modern Pentathlon Federation President (ÖVMFK), Alexander served from 1993-2003 and thereafter became President of the MFK / LV Lower Austria region.

On the international stage, he played an essential role as UIPM Honorary Auditor from 2001 to 2020 while also serving as a very active Board Member of the European Modern Pentathlon Confederation. He was instrumental in organising World and European Championships in the youth sector and advocated for the introduction of new competition formats.

Through his long-standing role as Technical Delegate for UIPM at ranking competitions and World Cups across Europe and Egypt, and his involvement in the establishment of the Styrian Modern Pentathlon Association, Alexander made a profound impact on Modern Pentathlon development.

Tina Schwarz, ÖVMFK Secretary General, said: “Alexander’s dedication, passion and tireless efforts for the Modern Pentathlon community have left an incredible legacy that will always be remembered. He was not only a respected leader but also a wonderful person and a true friend to so many of us. His contributions to the sport and to the European Confederation will never be forgotten.

“Alexander Peirits dedicated his life with exceptional commitment and enthusiasm to the Modern Pentathlon. As a key figure in various clubs and associations, he significantly contributed to the promotion and development of our sport.”
