UIPM 2016 MASTERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: WILLPOWER AND FRIENDSHIP IN PRAGUE

Masters

The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has made major advances on behalf of the Masters Modern Pentathlon movement, offering former Olympians and other veteran athletes more competitive opportunities than ever before.

Twenty-three nations were represented by 129 athletes during the 2016 Masters World Championship in Prague (CZE, July 3-6) at two facilities, SC Podebrady and SC Juliska, which were prepared in pristine condition and ready for the athletes, coaches and officials.

A number of former Olympians participated. The UIPM President, Dr Klaus Schormann, attended the championships in Prague and presented some of the medals. He said: “Masters is an important movement and it is important that they are growing. Here we saw five continents represented – and I must say it is not about fun. I saw here amazing performances. At the same time, there is some kind of friendship. It is a very important pilar of the UIPM and the board of the UIPM has given a lot of support to this movement.”
