UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Final: Jun (KOR) and Choong (GBR) star in Men’s Semi-finals
- Top fencer Shaban (EGY) leads going into Men’s Final
- Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion and bronze medallist in hot pursuit
- Thriller awaits as world’s top athletes chase Paris 2024 qualification
The stage is set for an epic duel between the world’s top-ranked male pentathletes, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Joseph Choong of Great Britain and bronze medallist Jun Woongtae of Korea, at the UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Final.
World No.1 Jun (KOR) crossed the line together with Emiliano Hernandez of Mexico at the end of Semi-final A, with Mohanad Shaban of Egypt 4sec behind them.
World No.2 Choong (GBR) then cruised home after an early slip in Semi-final B, which was won jointly by Changwan Seo (KOR), Pavlo Tymoshchenko of Ukraine and Balazs Szep of Hungary.
Shaban (EGY) will be the early leader on Super Saturday after another fine Fencing Ranking Round performance, with Jun (KOR) and Linbin Zhang of China trailing by five points and Choong (GBR) by 15.

Road to Paris 2024
The first direct qualification quota places for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be won on 3 June – the individual finals day at the UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Final.
