UIPM 2024 Pentathlon U17 World Championships: Men’s Qualification
The UIPM 2024 Pentathlon U17 World Championships continued today with 74 athletes taking part in the Men’s Individual Qualification in Caldas da Rainha (POR).
The 12 best performers in each of three qualification groups earned passage to the Men’s Final.
Qualification Group A was dominated by Egypt, with Ahmed Abdelhamed finishing ahead of team-mate Sany Radwan as Federico Visco of Italy crossed 3rd.
With the day’s top score of 1,456 points, Yusei Takano of Japan dominated Group B with a huge margin of victory over Liutauras Valeika of Lithuania and 3rd-placed Maksymilian Dobosz of Poland.
There was a tie for the win in Group C between Aly Aboelfetouh (EGY) and Inchan Park of Korea, with Maksym Kovalchuk of Ukraine also impressing.
The UIPM 2024 Pentathlon U17 World Championships runs from September 10-15, continuing on Friday, September 13 with the Fencing Ranking Round, which is followed by the rest of the Individual Finals the next day. The Mixed Relay closes the competition on Sunday September 15.
