UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest: Women’s Qualification

UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest kicked off today with 84 athletes taking part in the women’s qualification round.

Among the successful qualifiers were two-time world champion Elena Micheli of Italy, London 2012 Olympic champion and Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Laura Asaudauskaite of Lithuania and the Rio 2016 Olympic silver and bronze medallists, Elodie Clouvel of France and Oktawia Nowacka of Poland.

Hungary will have strong representation in the Semi-finals led by UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Cairo gold medallist Michelle Gulyas and the team-mate who denied her gold in Budapest (HUN) last year, Blanka Guzi (HUN).

The first athletes across the line in Qualification Group A was Micheli (ITA) with the day’s highest score of 1,107 points, followed by Gulyas (HUN) and Tamara Vega of Mexico.

The top performers in Qualification Group B were Ilke Ozyuksel of Türkiye, Sofia Cabrera of Guatemala and Mayan Oliver (MEX).

In Qualification Group C, the standout performer was Guzi (HUN) followed by a batch of eight athletes.

Pentathlon World Cup Budapest continues tomorrow (April 24) with the Men's Qualification, followed by the Semi-finals on April 25-26, the Finals on April 27 and the Mixed Relay on April 28.
