UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia: Men’s Qualification

UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia continued today with 85 athletes taking part in the men’s qualification round.

Among the successful qualifiers were three Egypt athletes who have enjoyed podium action this season – Mohamed Elgendy, Moutaz Mohamed and Mohanad Shaban – as well as Pentathlon World Cup Ankara gold medallist Changwan Seo of Korea and three-time Pentathlon World Cup Final winner Valentin Prades of France.

The first athlete across the line in Qualification Group A was Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Pavlo Tymoshchenko of Ukraine, 1sec ahead of Giorgio Micheli of Italy and Christian Zillekens of Germany.

The top performer in Qualification Group B was Oleksandr Tovkai (UKR) with the day’s top score of 1,158 points, with a group of five athletes just 1sec slower.

In Qualification Group C, the highest-scoring athlete was Alexandre Dallenbach of Switzerland, with a group of four athletes finishing 7sec behind.

Pentathlon World Cup Sofia continues tomorrow (May 10) with the Women's Semi-finals, followed by the Men’s Semi-finals on May 11, the Finals on May 12 and the Mixed Relay on May 13.
