UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia: Women’s Qualification
UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia kicked off today with 76 athletes taking part in the women’s qualification round.
Among the successful qualifiers were Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Kate French of Great Britain, Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Elodie Clouvel of France and 2023 Under 19 world champion Malak Ismail of Egypt.
The first athlete across the line in Qualification Group A was Laura Heredia of Spain, followed by Anna Maliszewska of Poland and French (GBR).
The top performers in Qualification Group B were Marlena Jawaid of Sweden, Annika Zillekens of Germany and Valeriya Permykina of Ukraine.
In Qualification Group C, the highest-scoring athlete was Laura Salminen of Finland, the day’s top scorer with 1,069 points, followed by Rita Erdos of Hungary and Ralitsa Miteva of host nation Bulgaria.
Pentathlon World Cup Sofia continues tomorrow (May 9) with the Men's Qualification, followed by the Semi-finals on May 10-11, the Finals on May 12 and the Mixed Relay on May 13.
