UIPM Judges Certification Programme: Energy and education in Resende (BRA)
Another productive year of coaching development inside the UIPM movement found room for further work before year’s end as Resende (BRA) hosted a successful UIPM Judges Certification Programme.
Running ahead of the 2024 South & Pan American Junior Championships which also took place in the city in the southwest of Rio de Janeiro state, the week-long course was helmed by UIPM educator Andrea Dell’Amore (ITA) just weeks after he was elected to the UIPM Executive Board as Member for Sport.
The course was particularly well attended with as many as 24 South American students taking part. The group featured participants from Brazil and Uruguay with nine women and 15 men, including senior and junior athletes, gathering from December 3-7 to further their judging development.
The sessions offered participants the chance to earn certification in Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the JCP and all 24 successfully completed their certifications as development in South America continues.
UIPM JCP educator and Member for Sport Andrea Dell’Amore (ITA) said: “After a really positive year for our JCP worldwide, it was very rewarding to be able to squeeze in another cohort and particularly in a region where we have seen positive growth.
“A key part of the preparations ahead of an important championships is to ensure judging is ready to play its part. It was a real pleasure to help this engaged group deepen their knowledge and improve their judging skills. My thanks to the national federation for their help in hosting this course.”
President of the South American Confederation and UIPM EB Member Jorge Salas OLY (ARG) said: “This course will benefit not just the upcoming events but the continued growth of UIPM Sports in Brazil and across our confederation too.“
