UIPM launches new online course to support competition organisers worldwide

UIPM has announced the launch of a new online course, Fundamentals of Competition Organisation, designed to support National Federations (NFs), clubs and aspiring organisers in delivering high-quality UIPM Sports events worldwide.

Developed as part of UIPM’s ongoing commitment to education and development, the course provides a simple, practical introduction to the key principles of competition delivery. It is aimed particularly at new and smaller NFs and individuals seeking to build foundational knowledge in event organisation.

The initiative has been delivered through close collaboration between the UIPM Events Operations team and Andrea Dell'Amore, Executive Board Member for Sport, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s wider education strategy and standards.

“This course has been created to make competition knowledge more accessible to everyone across our global community,” said Dell’Amore. “By providing clear and practical guidance, we want to empower more organisers to deliver well-structured, safe and engaging events, no matter their level of experience or resources.”

Available via the UIPM Educational Platform, the course covers competition delivery across all UIPM Sports, including Modern Pentathlon, Obstacle Racing, Tetrathlon, Triathle, Biathle and Laser Run, as well as their various formats and combinations.

With an estimated duration of 60-75 minutes, the programme is structured into three modules:

• Module I: UIPM Overview
• Module 2: Introduction to Event Organisation
• Module 3: Judging Fundamentals.

The new course complements UIPM’s established education initiatives, including the Coaches Certification Programme (CCP) and Judges Certification Programme (JCP), as well as the UIPM Safeguarding Course and Para Pentathlon Course. Together, these programmes form part of a structured learning pathway aimed at strengthening capacity and expertise across the global pentathlon community.

The Fundamentals of Competition Organisation course is now available online and open to all participants, free of charge, following registration on the UIPM Educational Platform.
