Ozyuksel (TUR) wins top award for ‘contribution to Olympic values’
Modern pentathlete Ilke Ozyuksel was honoured with the Mustafa V Koc Sports Award, one of the most prestigious prize in Turkish sport, at a glittering ceremony in Istanbul on September 24.
Ozyuksel, 22, won her fourth UIPM Pentathlon World Cup medal in 2019 and set a new women’s world record for the Laser Run component of Modern Pentathlon during the European Championships in Bath, Great Britain.
Her award was presented by International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vice-President Prof Dr Ugur Erdener, who is also President of the Turkish Olympic Committee, and IOC Athletes Committee Chair Kirsty Coventry. International Modern Pentathlon Union President Dr Klaus Schormann also attended the ceremony.
The Mustafa V Koc Sports Award honours those who have made an outstanding “contribution to Olympic values”.
