UIPM 2022 Pentathlon Junior World Championships: Women’s Semi-finals
The UIPM 2022 Pentathlon Junior World Championships continued today with 36 athletes competing for a place in the Women’s Final.
Elzbieta Adomaityte of Lithuania will go into the Final with a 20-point lead after a fine performance in the Fencing Ranking Round, scoring 25V/10D.
Semi-final A was won by Sharon Tal of Israel (1,064 points), who finished 2sec ahead of reigning champion Rebecca Castaudi of France, with Blanka Bauer of Hungary and Andrea Medina of Spain close behind.
With 1,052 points, Lucie Hlavackova of Czech Republic won Semi-final B, 2sec ahead of Rita Erdos (HUN) and 4sec ahead of Emma Whitaker of Great Britain, Paula Valencia of Guatemala and Anna Waltermann of Germany.
Five continents will be represented in the Final with Martina Armanazqui of Argentina representing South America, Hana Shibata of Japan representing Asia and Zara Temesi of Australia representing Oceania.
This is the first Junior World Championships to feature the new elimination format for individual competitions, as designed for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Athletes must progress through Qualification and Semi-finals to earn a place in the Final.
