UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Final: Oteiza (FRA) stands out in Women’s Semi-finals
- Defending champion Clouvel (FRA) chases team-mate into Final
- World champion Micheli (ITA) wins second Semi-final ahead of Seong (KOR)
- Three qualifiers from Lithuania as athletes chase Paris 2024 Olympic places
Marie Oteiza of France is in the vanguard of the women’s event at the UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Final, closely followed by her compatriot Elodie Clouvel (FRA).
Oteiza (FRA) won the first of two Semi-finals after achieving the highest score of 24V/11D in the Fencing Ranking Round, which means she will begin the Women’s Final on Super Saturday (June 3) five points ahead of the defending champion, Clouvel (FRA).
Three athletes qualified for the Women’s Final after scoring 21V/13D – Rebecca Langrehr of Germany, Karolina Krenkova of Czech Republic and Seungmin Seong of Korea, while Lithuania was the most prolific country in having three qualifiers – Ieva Serapinaite, Laura Asadauskaite and Gintare Venckauskaite.
Oteiza (FRA) cruised home by 6sec in Semi-final A, followed by Alice Sotero of Italy and Clouvel (FRA).
The 2022 world champion, Elena Micheli (ITA), was first across the line in Semi-final B, 1sec ahead of Seong (KOR) with local favourite Ilke Ozyuksel of Türkiye and two-time Olympic medallist Asadauskaite (LTU) jointly finishing 3rd.

Road to Paris 2024
The first direct qualification quota places for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be won on 3 June – the individual finals day at the UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Final.
