Modern Pentathlon

Patrick Dogue of Germany made experience count as he took a commanding lead into the Men’s Final at UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Ankara.

Two-time Olympian Dogue (GER), 32, scored 27 victories from his 35 bouts in the Fencing Ranking Round before comfortably sealing his passage to the Final from Semi-final A.

Only one challenger will be anywhere near Dogue (GER) when the Men’s Final begins on Super Saturday – Changwan Seo of Korea also stood out in Fencing. A group of rivals including world No.2 Mohanad Shaban of Egypt will start 20 points behind Seo (KOR) and 30 points behind Dogue (GER).

Semi-final A was won by Taishu Sato of Japan with 1,182 points, with Seo (KOR) finishing 2nd and Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Ahmed Elgendy (EGY) 3rd.

Ahmed Elgendy’s younger brother Mohamed Elgendy (EGY) was one of the first to cross the line in Semi-final B, along with Martin Vlach of Czech Republic, Emiliano Hernandez of Mexico and Giorgio Malan of Italy.

Only 1sec behind them was Moutaz Mohamed (EGY), becoming the fourth athlete from his team to reach the Men’s Final.
