Seven athletes named as eligible candidates for UIPM Athletes Committee global election
Seven athletes from different countries across three continents have been named as eligible candidates for the global position on the UIPM Athletes Committee (AC).
The next AC will serve from 2025-2028, encompassing the historic Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games where Obstacle will make its debut in the Olympic Modern Pentathlon.
The single global place on the Committee is traditionally elected first, before each continent chooses its representative, and it will be subject to an in-person athlete vote during the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Championships in Zhengzhou (CHN) in June.
In accordance with UIPM Election Rules Article 5.1, a comprehensive review was conducted for the nominations submitted by National Federations for the Athletes Committee election and the list of candidates deemed eligible contains three female and four male athletes.
From Africa, Haydy Morsy of Egypt is one of the candidates, along with Tyler Evans from United States and five Euopeans: Alessandra Frezza of Italy, Anna Maliszewska of Poland, Samuel Curry of Great Britain, Todor Mihalev of Bulgaria and Valentin Prades of France.
All candidates were checked against a strict criteria to ensure their eligibility, among which was the requirement that they had been internationally ranked in the last two seasons before the elections.
