Activities/ Events 2024
UIPM has been collaborating with the International University Sports Federation (FISU) since joining the movement in 2014 with the aim of providing exciting opportunities for student athletes during their years of further education. The first FISU World University Championship Modern Pentathlon was held in Budapest (HUN) in 2018.
FISU oversees two major events: the Summer and Winter Universiade, along with World University Championships in individual sports. These competitions are open to student athletes aged 17-28 from around the globe.
Established in 1949, FISU aims to promote the values of sports while celebrating the spirit of the university. With member associations worldwide, FISU is dedicated to nurturing not only the intellectual faculties but also the character and physical well-being of athletes. UIPM is thrilled to announce that the 2nd FISU World University Championships Modern Pentathlon will take place in 2024, with a view to the competition firmly establishing itself as a key biennial event on the international Modern Pentathlon calendar.
Building on the resounding success of the inaugural edition in 2018, the 2024 World University Championships (WUC) will bring together the finest student athletes from across the globe to compete in the picturesque city of Kaunas, Lithuania, renowned for its active student community and sports lifestyle.
Reflecting the exciting transition currently taking shape within Modern Pentathlon, the WUC will adopt the new Obstacle Laser Run format, combining three of the sport’s most accessible and dynamic disciplines. There will be Individual, Team and Mixed Relay categories, making the sport even more accessible for students and universities.
