I am excited to bring you all an update on some pivotal developments in the evolution of our Modern Pentathlon TV product. But first it is important to set the context of the historic relationship with one of UIPM’s key stakeholders.
World-leading expert conducts fictionalised interview with Modern Pentathlon founder
George Hirthler is an Executive Board member of the International Pierre de Courbetin Committee (CIPC). He is also author of The Idealist, the fictionalised biography of Baron Pierre de Coubertin, and the creator of Coubertin Speaks, a website dedicated to Coubertin’s ideas.
In this piece below, Hirthler interviews Baron Pierre de Coubertin and began by asking the Baron a pointed question:
Twelve pentathletes who hold Belarus passports, and one who holds a Russia passport, have been approved to participate in a neutral capacity in UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia (May 8-13) and the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Final in Ankara, Türkiye (May 22-26).
Approval for the last two competitions of the World Cup season was also granted to four coaches who hold Belarus passports, and one physio.

Dr Klaus Schormann announces today that he will not seek re-election as President of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne at the 73rd UIPM Congress in November 2024.
A three-sport UIPM Para World Championships will be a special highlight of the UIPM 2024 Biathle-Triathle World Championships in Port Said (EGY) from October 10-13.
Recognising the strength of the Para Pentathlon movement in Egypt, and the potential to create a truly inclusive celebration of para sport during this competition, three World Championship medals will be on offer to participants across Para Laser Run, Para Biathle and Para Triathle.
