Laser-Run at the double in Carregado, Portugal
A UIPM Laser-Run City Tour was combined with the first-ever Portuguese National Laser-Run Championships in the town of Carregado on June 25, 2017 as more than 200 athletes competed for medals.
The competition, hosted by the local club Associação Desportiva do Carregado and the Town Hall of Alenquer, featured competitors from clubs all over Portugal - from north to south and from the continental territory to the Madeira Islands.
It was a great celebration and showcase of Laser-Run despite the wet weather, which failed to dampen the effort and enthusiasm of all athletes, clubs, local authorities and families.
In terms of medals the most successful entrants were Clube de Natação da Amadora (18 medals), Penta Clube da Covilhã (15) and Associação Desportiva do Bairro dos Anjos (8).
The next stop for the Laser-Run City Tour in Portugal will be the city of Amadora on September 24, another event that is sure to be well attended by the local pentathlon community as well as new and curious athletes.
Laser-Run City Tour was introduced in 2017 as a new concept designed to showcase Laser-Run to a global audience and give more and more athletes worldwide an introduction to UIPM Sports, starting them on a road that can end at the Olympic Games.
